  1. I bring all my own toiletries when I’m traveling except bar soap, which my host provided, in the form of a fresh new bar. I don’t like to assume they would have extra anything in the guest bath. And besides, don’t want to bug them when they’ve already done so much to make me comfy!

I usually have extra toothbrushes, shampoo, razors, etc. on hand for guests when they visit me, just in case. Sh*t happens, people forget stuff. Why not make life a little easier for someone traveling.

  2. “it’s not so much of the content of the NYTimes as much as it is the lack of content.
for an elegant rebuke to your assertion I refer you to this little tidbit:

A yes, Legion, another conservative conspiracy! The NYT sees itself as having certain standards. In fiction, it doesn’t review many of the best sellers, as they are not literary. Ditto for non-fiction. You can debunk this article easily, by simply going to the NYT best seller list.

It has only reviewed six of the top 15 fiction works. It has only reviewed one of the top four and it is unlikely it will review the other three.

In non-fiction, you see they have only reviewed ten of the fifteen (including Laura Bush’ memoir)

  3. “The only problem is the hasty generalization
in your basic assumption of : conservative=racist.”

My viewpoint with regards to this issue is not based on hasty generalizations, it’s based on facts. I certainly do not think all conservatives or conservative “media” are racist, but it is clearly true of some and often seems to be a motivation behind their collective practices.

Legion, your nbra link is irrelevant and a bit silly, really. Do you think I am that ignorant of U.S. history to believe the Republican party of the 19th century and early 20th century has anything at all to do with today’s Republican party and what it stands for? You’re going to have to try harder than that.

  4. Denton, most small biz actually pay above min wage cause it helps turnover. boss/manager has more pressing stuff to deal with than employee turnover. diff story when it’s a large firm with HR dept to deal with the turnover.
