Give momma snappy a big phone or email hug from all of us. Does she know you hang out online with a bunch of crazy people? (Does she want us to guess the value of her house?) First year after a loss is hard. So many reminders hit for the first time — birthdays, anniversaries, other annual traditions.
My main computer is four years old, time to build a new one. Hopefully I won’t need help. All the pieces will be here on Friday. Here’s the parts list:
Thermaltake Spedo Advance Package VI90001W2Z Black 0.8 mm SECC Steel ATX Full Tower Computer
ASUS Rampage III Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
okay dumb question… if there is a power outage, do the trains run? during the 2003 blackout i just walked home and didnt need to take the train. what happens if you inside the train and the power goes out? ugh. that sounds terrifying!
i also feel terribly faint right now
*rob*
the trains go out too, and many people end up with horrible stories of sitting on a crowded subway with no lighting and no ventilation.
eventually they have to walk the tracks back to a station.
during the 2003 blackout I had to walk patients one by one down 6 flights in the dark. I was working in a building at the time.
in the 1978 blackout, I was playing with cars and cicadas on the sidewalk when the lamp post went out. same year that Son of Sam serial killer was around so it was spooky.
…thank goodness I haven’t been on a subway during a blackout.
Montreal was fun. Didn’t get stopped at the border with my goat so that’s great news. The Border Patrol agent coming back to NYC was pretty damn cute. She was tiny with blonde hair and a nice tan. I totally flirted my way through.
Place is crawling with cyclists. Gas and parking costs pretty much double than in NYC so that makes sense that most would opt for biking.
Food is great there. Went to a bunch of pretty good restaurants.
Jazzfest was awesome. Caught a lot of outdoor performances since we stayed a block away from where it was taking place.
HUGE vibrant gayborhood with nightlife and good restaurants [We decided to go check out a few places there as one of the people I went with really wanted to see what it was all about [he is totally DIBS’s type (Asian) but is in a serious relationship. DIBS I asked just in case he wanted to explore – homo].
Biff, you’ll be proud of me. I tried Reubens and both La Vitreur and Fairmont Bagel places. I still think NYC Bagels are better BUT Reubens breakfast was delish. I also went to Le Jardin Nelson which was really really yummy.
Stopping by for one more second to clarify something:
Rob, the subways do not depend upon Con Ed for power. All governmental agencies in NYC and NYS get their power from a government entity: the NYS Power authority, which generates its own electricity. They have a huge power plant in Astoria, Queens.
“You mean you didn’t love him until recently? ”
No, I meant “have I mentioned it LATELY”. Sorry, my slim grasp of punctuation is showing!

Denton,
…you forgot the “flux capacitor”
the one that shoots you back in time
like in Back to the Future. 😉

Hola people.
Montreal was fun. Didn’t get stopped at the border with my goat so that’s great news. The Border Patrol agent coming back to NYC was pretty damn cute. She was tiny with blonde hair and a nice tan. I totally flirted my way through.
Montréal is an awesome city but not much to see. 4 days there was just enough.

She’s in our thoughts, Snappy.

“(Have I mentioned how much I love this man, lately?)”
You mean you didn’t love him until recently? Or until he fixed your computer?
