  1. “I contend that the increasingly common treatment of domestic animals as if they were human is symptomatic of the alienation of modern human interaction and the erosion of traditional family life.”

it’s because they’re super cute and cuddly. duh

  2. weather.com says it is 102 (feellike 106).

I think I am going to try the water taxi to Ikea tonight.
Never done it but sounds like fun. More fun than fixing computers at least.

  3. The following exchange took place between one of my sisters and my father this weekend up in Vermont:

Sister: “Do you know if there are any kittens down at the barn? We started out with six cats at our new place but we’re down to two and we need to replenish them.”

Father: “There might be. Have a look around and take whatever you need.”

In case you’re wondering, no one knows what happened to the other four – could be coyotes, could be fisher cats, I suppose maybe even a mountain lion but that’s unlikely. Probably just coyotes. No one even thought to ask, so I’m just speculating.

  4. lol donatella,

    here’s an alternative suggestion.
    wait till trash collection day,
then bring the computer out personally and place it in the
    jaws of the sanitation truck.
Wait till they hit the green knob
and smile as the POS is crushed into oblivion by
50 tons of steel jawed pressure. 😉

  5. Denton, you showoff! That is my first thought. After that comes intense frustration.

Cobble, I have everything backed up on to an external hard drive. What I am considering doing next is doing another backup, removing the new battery I bought and the new Ram, then taking the whole MF**King thing to the backyard and smashing it on my paver brick patio. but of course, I wont do that, being the highly controlled and self contained individual that I am.

Then I will buy another computer.

  6. Good luck to your friend. My grandfather started a retail business in 1933. It never got big, but I believe it is still in business (not run by my grandpa, of course, he’s long gone).

Also, I think your friend picked a good spot. I’ve seen that stretch of Atlantic improve, and particularly for these types of businesses (won’t go upscale any time soon). Accessible to builders working in a bunch of central and northern Brooklyn hoods. I bet teh space was cheap and he got a good long lease that will help with profitability.

  7. *rob*, the HP laptop that DeLepp, Biff and I all seem to have bought (if not the exact model, I’m guessing close enough) for $550 is what I was suggesting to you on Saturday, though you can certainly get a decent laptop, with WiFi capability, for less, costing somewhere between what the computer you just returned cost and these HPs. Windows 7 (thank God I’m done with Vista) and it’s fast. The HP I bought has a huge screen — perfect for you to watch porn!!
