  1. Palm steaks are good but service/ambience are awful. Don’t care for R. Chris. What’s that other one over near Rock Ctr. on 6th Av.? I haven’t been there but I’m told it’s really excellent.

rob, why not just go to brighton? Plenty of people(myself included) venture into the water, couldn’t be any worse than….choose your poison.

i read a thread on citidata or some board like that the russians spit on you at that beach if youre not russian tho. that doesnt sound very pleasant.

  3. People, Rob wont go to the hamptons on a bus or a train. No point even suggesting. He couldn’t even make it to his own Pier 6 protest :o).

Sparks is yummy….so is Palm and Ruth Chris. Never been to Keens :o(

  4. Before I had a car, I would do day trips to Long Beach, which is pretty close and not bad. For colorful slumming, Coney Island or Brighton Beach, but that is a whole other trip. I used to go to Point Pleasant when I was a kid – (they have an amusement park), its a nice beach but don’t know how long it takes to get there. I can say that the Hamptons is definately where you don’t want to go – trust me, it is everything that gets under your skin. I did that for a couple of summers a while back and I do have to say that the beaches out there are stunning though the scene is NOT. I think though Rob that if you ever get a chance to go to the tip of Long Island, Montauk, I think you would love that. It has a blue color vibe -lots of fisherman, the rich and famous don’t bother with that (although there is an expensive spa out there somewhere) and it is lovely. Takes a long time though and it is not a day trip.

  5. “The Marriott is pretty nice and actually as expensive as most Manhattan hotels.”

Biff, They’ve been running deals lately to fill the rooms. Friends of friends just stayed there for $64 a night!
