“Now, one thing I do disagree with because it’s absurd is charging for a bike to be chained up on the sidewalk… because it “takes up space.” It does?!”
yeah – pretty retarded arguement. there’s tons of free parking all over NYC for cars.

You know what impressed me when I went to Japan last time? Their use of the sidewalk under a highway or subway overpass. In NY, a sidewalk under an overpass is usually a dreary space, a no-man’s land.
i wonder if that has to due with drug use, thuggery, and street prostitution in american cities versus (i assume much less of that in japan?)
Ticket running a red light and other traffice violation, sure. BUT, you had better be ticketing cars too! Equal protection under the law. Not just what’s easier or more convenient.
Now, one thing I do disagree with because it’s absurd is charging for a bike to be chained up on the sidewalk… because it “takes up space.” It does?! I can’t say I’ve EVER found a sidewalk crowded out by bicycles on the edge of the curb. Give me some examples. Should fire hydrants and trash cans and trees be moved out of the way too?
Now, fining people with golf umbrellas resting on their shoulders and douches walking *slowly* three- or four-abreast. I’m all for that.

“a Schwinn with a banana seat.”
When I was about 12, this was the ultimate expression of coolness.
“They are a mode of transportation and a vehicle and if they want to ride on the streets, then they should obey the laws of traffic.”
and the vast majority of them do.
“jessi!
ouch, psychoanalysis can be painful. ;(”
Sorry, Legion, come sit on Dr. Jessi’s couch and we’ll discuss this further.

“Most of them are old and no longer functional to society anyway”
Just remember, DIBS, when you are old and no longer functional to society, we’re ready to take you out in the field. : P
I agree with much said about bikes…

rob, I’ve yelled at people in those motorized wheelchairs who ride right up behind you and then start yelling. They ride too fast on the sidewalk.
Most of them are old and no longer functional to society anyway.
