  1. Dave, I know you don’t like strawberry-rhubarb, but my mother made a fantastic strawberry-rhubarb if anyone wants the recipe. (Yeah, yeah, I’ll take back the GOTD now.)

*rob*, does that mean you want to do the urban farming thing with the teenagers in Red Hook with me???

  2. Kens, did I tell you that I went with Mrs C last Friday at lunch to the Montreal style restaurant on Hoyt? Tiny space so we had to wait 30 mins for a table (got there around 12). Had the smoked meat platter and poutine with a root beer. Food was good, but, if I go back, I’ll do take out. I would say that, if you go, get there before 12. Not worth it for me to wait as I’m in Montreal enough to satisfy my craving for smoked meat, poutine and Montreal style cheesecake.

  3. JB, had the vegan ginger cookie (disgusting), spicy chocolate pepper cookie (not bad with a kick at the end of taste buds), almond creme brioche (tasty but nothing special), and chocolate crossant (very average). And a cafe au lait which was actually pretty damn good (go figure). How you like my breakfast?

  4. “Speaking of urban gardens…I already have a dozen figs on my tree and my rhubarb is about a foot long (no homo). Tomatoes and lettuce are in as well.

These figs are way too early. We don’t get them in Philly intil August. I don’t know what gives. the tree doesn’t even have all of its leaves out yet!!!”

And DIBS slowly, ever so slowly, begins to come to terms with global warming. Cabernets from the south of England, anyone? [Runs for cover.]

Speaking of England, etson, are you around? The Guardian’s “Step Outside Posh Boy!” parody of the Brown campaign is looking prescient. [Everyone else — you can google it yourself. Very funny and droll April Fool’s day article on teh Guardian.]

  5. cgar, i used to be anti urban farm until it me that urban farming would be a good way for poor people to grow their OWN food instead of relying on taxpayer hand outs. i say teach away!
