First graduating HS is hardly big achievement as Rob pointed out. This isn’t 1940.
Second , I think you said family lacks for nothing doesn’t sound like is going to use for some college fund. Just more play money (buy a dime bag or something).
I give $50 for xmas and birthdays $10 for a 10 year old, $15 for a 15 y.o. , etc.
I probably gave $50 for hs graduation. I also have 14 nieces and nephews.
Benson, I am friends with a couple of guys who went to a Jesuit seminary and through them a bunch of people who went to school at Regis. They are older than you (finished up before Vatican II) and they told me that they were not even encouraged to apply to Ivy League schools (serious challenge to their faith!!). Most are now Lawyers now.
Legion, a book man you ain’t, if you were you’d know that that book in better condition (this is an ex-lib edition) would sell for $1200-$2500. A bit rich for a HS grad, no?
I had my best score all year, selling a book. I owned a signed ltd edition of ‘Tinkers’ that just won the Pulitzer. Fortunately I didn’t like it much so I wasn’t sorry to see it go.
Went to grad school (Stanford) for free (scholarship) too!!
I’ve told this story before, but when I was about 11 I was with my dad on a contracting job. My dad did contracting during the evenings and weekends to make ends meet, and he would take me along to help out. He told me that he thought I could do well, but that he had no money to send me to better schools. When I was a boy I took everything my father said to heart, and made it my business to find a way to pursue my education for free.

Cost, $25, sold, $860. That should keep me in books for the next year.

“Things ain’t cheap anymore.”
Well, apparently you can still get a hummer in BoCoCa for $20 or $30.
Denton:
I would argue the nabes in College Point and the South Bronx are not exactly the same as um…Park Slope/Prospect Hts and Fort Greene – ha
$100 for a graduate isn’t excessive at all! – cheapies!
“I’ll help you pack.”
I don’t do that unless I get a nice present.
^^^ Learned that from Jessi. Wonder if she had a good time in Nawlins.
“(Good place to get your bumpers detailed tho).”
My bumpers haven’t been detailed in ages.
Pete;
Nope!
