From a purely sustainability viewpoint, I’d have to agree…the world needs fewer children not more. But as a disincentive, it’s been proven to not work. Poor farmers in India, for example, still overbreed because they think they need someone to take care of them and their land. Many religions actively encourage broods (you know which they are.) In general, education is the only thing that results in the sustainable level of 2 kids/family.
So eliminating the child deduction will only harm the children already here.
