Blaming folks for shit is so outdone. It takes more time to complain about something than it does to get off your duff and fix it. So what if the baby boomers effed things up? Get off yer patootie and do something about it. If you feel Obama and others currently in office are effing up, write them, call them, vote them out of office in the next election. We have become a nation of whiners. And it ain’t cute. At all.
DIBS, the gov’t has spent zillions on highways which could be called subsidies to competing transportation mode to railroads. Every metro area/state/feds willing to build/fund infrastructure for air tranportation.
And Amtrak does not do so badly $$ wise in densely populated northeast. But again, rural congressman and senators insist that they do not lose passenger train service to their states (again mostly republican).
bxgrl,
true to the baby boomer modus operandi, you throw off responsibility and blame.
That’s the problem in itself,
the baby boomer never wanted to accept blame as much as they accepted adulation.
face facts they are handing over a nation in decline.
When the fixes are straight forward and based on common sense.
Check out that book by John Stossel(the 60 minutes commentator) on common sense. Used to be we had some.
When the time comes for me to need a PO Box at the carversville Post Office in Bucks County, my neighbor says if I slip the postmaster here some money I will move up to the top of the queue.
the USPS must provide services that are money losing while competing companies can pick off the profitable parts and not provide money losing services.
Many of these money losers are in ways ‘subsidies’ to private corporations and others are insisted upon by rural
congressman and senators (mostly republican btw) to serve isolated areas.

“Ever price any trip on Amtrak, jessi??? They are not cheap. You could certainly fly to Florida for probably half of what an Amtrak ticket costs!!!! ”
dibs, isn’t it true that the entire American aviation industry, overall, has not made a dime since its inception?

I’d like to see the private sector make money on delivering anything for $0.44..

some examples of the private sector delivering the goods for less than 44cents;
-envelope manufacturers
-paper clip manufacturers
-rubber ball manufacturers
-chewing gum manufacturers
-pencil manufacturers
-pen manufacturers
etc.
etc.
