  1. Funny, I am not aware any big shortages of doctors or engineers coming out of science deprived Texas vs anywhere else. And their economy is better down there as well, helped by no state income tax.
    (and before anyone says anything about Canadian taxes, Ontario + Canada is pretty close to US Federal + NYS + NYC, with arguably more services)

  2. legion- you’ve so demonized the President and the dems you can’t see straight. I have no idea where your polls are from but most polls have consistently shown that the country wants healthcare reform. And as for racism and the democratic party- I agree. It certainly was part of the party’s history. But get over it- times have changed and so have the parties. I will certainly admit the Democratic party was racist- but isn’t it odd how the parties have switched roles? Today Lincoln would definitely be a Dem, and your idea of someone like Frederick Douglass being a conservative is really out of touch with reality. You’re talking economics and politics. Douglass was living sociology and radical change.

  3. newsflash cobble,

    quote:
    Go pick on someone that needs picking on like the huge corporations that get absurd tax cuts here, instead of nannies who make LESS than you do, for crying out loud.

    those people who work in big corporations are the one who hire nannies and dont pay payroll taxes, the nannies dont pay taxes, oftentimes they are illegally employed, etc. im sorry but they need to pay their damn taxes like the rest of us. why is that so hard to understand? why do you feel sorry for them? i sure as hell dont. they get paid their untaxed nanny wages (which according to stats is A LOT of money, actually MORE than i make.. and UNTAXED!) sorry but see this . ? that’s the world’s smallest violin, and im playing it for the oh-my-life-is-soooooo hard nannies.

  4. HEEEELLLLLOOOOOO……..I’m trying to flirt with m4l under the guise of a real estate discussion and the rest of you keep budding in with constitutional talk and ad hominem attacks (rob and Cobble).

  5. bxgrl,
    how much fallout could there be about homeland security under Bush,
    President Obama has basically continued all the previous administration’s framework regarding these matters.
    Including the wiretapping which seemed to be such a contentious issue in the past but which the media is now silent on.
    including the issue of enemy combatants,
    he still doesn’t know what to do (through Holder).

    oh, and Guantanamo is still open for business, last I heard.

    but please, let’s stick to the issue at hand;

    The Democratic majority in the House and the Senate will not let this bill pass.
    The American people are speaking clearly and loudly.
    The President, Pelosi and Reid are basically running this show like the trio we had in Albany up until recently.
