Cobble, it’s going to rain this coming weekend. So take one day and get everything together.
We usually spend a week getting our stuff ready to take to the accountant. I did everything (bookkeeping) back in January. It was a relieve.
“I don’t get it. When YOU hire someone, YOU pay the taxes? Isn’t it deducted from their pay? I can understand setting up a payroll system as annoying, but can’t one just give them a 1099 at the end of the year and they pay their own taxes.”
ET, what you don’t get is that every employer ALSO pays FICA for an employee to the tune of around 6%. Plus NYS unemployment insurance and a few other things.
1099 is for consulting work stuff. A full time nanny will not be considered an independent contractor by any means, they would be considered an employee.

i bet most of the nannies insist on being paid under the table so they can still get other benefits, such as housing and food stamps.. fraud coming from every direction!!
i KNEW there was something fishy going on with the nannies, and im glad this was exposed!
