“would something like Flip This House even be *possible* in Brooklyn?! I can’t even think a bathroom renovation could be accomplished in this city in less than 6 to 8 weeks!!”
No way – you’d have fart sniffing neighbors up in your business, blogging about every little piece of garbage you leave on the street and filing complaints with the DOB on you.
M4L and Dave, they have doubles so can be conducive for that. I think they said that comparables are something like $40 for 4 hours or $95 a night. It’s in the article.
OK…. so, thought for the day. Does anyone watch that show Flip This House (I think that’s the name)? They take some nasty house in Atlanta or Texas or Baltimore or wherever they are…. and then GUT the fucker and give it a new roof, new siding, new walls, new electrical, new appliances, flooring, plumbing, landscaping etc. etc. etc.
They do this on some crazy shoestring budget and produce pretty damn decent looking living spaces. Now, I’m not going to compare costs to NYC. These flips would obviously be far more expensive in NYC (though I’m not fully convinced why). But that’s not my point.
These companies flip these houses with massive renovations with a timeline of 6 to 8 weeks!! This is what I was thinking about.
I watch restaurant and retail build-outs that take 3 to 4 months for unknown reasons. New construction that takes an amazing amount of time (3rd & Bond Week 4,721) and so on. I just want to know…. would something like Flip This House even be *possible* in Brooklyn?! I can’t even think a bathroom renovation could be accomplished in this city in less than 6 to 8 weeks!!

Kens, I’d only need it for about 45 minutes. 🙂
tybur6…the red tape in the permitting process, inspections, etc. here is far different from anywhere else in the country.
I’m sure I could do a flip renovation in Philadelphia in 6-8 weeks.
