Paging 11217: I subscribe to a “trends” letter and this was in it:
“Kale Chips: Eating a bag of Doritos now may be akin to smoking cigarettes on the list of Things That Will Kill You, but not all chips are created equal these days. In fact, kale chips may be the next snack trickery for health-conscious parents to stuff into their kids’ lunchboxes. Already, dehydrated kale has become an entrepreneurial success story for Brooklynite Amy Hamberry who sells her raw vegan chips to some of the top healthfood stores in NYC. LA’s Chef Rawsheed (of SunPower Natural) has also made his mark on the kale chip scene with his Spicy Kale Munchies seasoned with onion, garlic, cayenne, and tamari. If the price tags on these labors of love make your heart skip a beat, you can always bake your own.”
legion- that is my favorite Beatle’s song- in fact I walked up the aisle to it after the ceremony.
It’s really interesting to read about people reinventing themselves- I’ve done it so many times, going from admin ass’t at a mining company, a paleontology curator, and Ass’t director for a small museum to a artist and designer. I’ve never been career minded in the traditional sense but being unemployed since 12/08 and trying to find what I’m supposed to do next made me realize I need to go back to the point I began- as an artist. It’s all I ever really wanted to be and now I need to really work at making it happen. I know most people here look down on artists and don’t think artists contribute much. Every artist I’ve ever known has worked long and hard, and sacrificed to pursue their passion. I may never be able to make a living as an artist- although I have as a graphic designer- but as one of my favorite sayings goes- it’s the journey, not the destination. And I find that gives me hope.
CGar, I just emailed you.

Biff, you feel like walking over the Bridge? It’ll be my forth time this week – skipped it during the rain Wednesday.
Hey, Legion, your post was great. LOVE that Sartre quote (will explain when I see you). Check your email in a couple or few hours, please.
Thanks, Donatella. That was sweet. Too bad I don’t like you 😉
Well, don’t worry and don’t get your panties into a knot over it. Unless you are going commando.
“Once I became too mature(fat/bald) to ply my trade at 53rd and 3rd, I’ve lost all passion and pride for work.”
Oh please, you are NOT FAT!! Can’t comment on the rest!
