Do all of the rest of you get your knowledge of economic theory from youtube cartoons???

  2. DIBS,

    You’re nuts.

    >>That any farmer who grows organic produces a MUCH LOWER YIELD than if he grew with fertilizer. This is not good for society as a whole.<<

DO you have the same feeling about beef? The more cows on an acre the better? So many cows that the cows never even walk around? You think thats’ good for society? Do you eat rack em and stack em poultry?

The yield is lower, the prices are higher. Who are YOU to say that’s not good for society? Can’t they grow what they want? I’d have figured you for a free market type. The funny thing is a lot of the smaller farmers are finding a way to make a living in the CSA/Greenmarket world when they were getting killed in the larger market.

And “organic” can mean all sorts of stuff. Some of the mega-brands are better than others. You can look this up online. I’d much prefer to buy my chicken/beef/eggs/milk from a greenmarket source I know but maybe didn’t get all the Ts cross to be certified organic than the “organic” stuff at Gristedes.

  3. i get my potting soil from neighbors’ stoop plants. (i only did that once and it was only like a cup worth of soil for a very tiny plant so it was barely noticeable.) wasnt about to buy a giant bag of soil, would have been a waste.
