There was a table of Canada fans in the bar I was watching the game in. Afterward I went over and congratulated them. Let Canada have something to enjoy – this Olympics won me over – I didn’t expect to like it as much as I ended up doing.
The owner of the bar mentioned he dropped Blue Point from one of his lines because when he had a Haiti benefit, everyone except them donated a keg.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the game yesterday was the most significant game in any sport that I have ever watched, not that that says much having grown up with the Toronto Maple Leafs. But still, it was so huge for Canada and I believe most Canadians, like me, viewed it as a make or break game as far as the Olympic success and national pride were concerned.
I have to say that the US announcers, especially Bob Costas and Al Michaels, were extremely classy and complimentary towards all Canadians and the team itself. They clearly appreciated what the win meant for Canada.
I wonder if the Canadian Olympic Association locked the dressing room doors from the outside to ensure the celebrating didn’t spill out onto the ice.
I kinda knew Canada was going to take it going into OT. They looked much better on ice than US team. Parise couldn’t hold it together for the whole team, especially going up against Crosby. If US held it together till shoot out, they would have taken the Gold. Luongo is no Miller or Brodeur and not great one on one.
“time between 3rd and OT must have been awful for luongo.”
On a positive note, it gave diehard Canadian hockey fans much needed time to ensure their wills were current and in place and contemplate the most painless form of suicide possible. I started to rethink my death-by-banging-my-head-against-the-marble-fireplace approach.

No way…… So not even the old fridge there? That sucks. Sorry.
biff, indeed, wonder how many reached for their nitroglycerian tabs at 5:30Pm, yesterday.
That was one of the top three games I’ve ever watched.

That would be a shame to waste probably a nice fireplace. You could just opt for the new fridge head banging instead.
