Re: the Vinegar Hill House. I went with Mrs. C on Saturday night and it was excellent. People had mentioned the noise, but we were seated downstairs (next to the fire) and, while all the tables there were full, it wasn’t noisy at all. We had the following…everything was delicious. (Thanks slopefarm, I took you up on all your recommendations):
– Oven Roasted Octopus – cranberry beans, olives, mâche, charred lemon
– Cast Iron Chicken
– Red Wattle Country Chop – homemade sauerkraut
– Twice Baked Mashed Potato
– Brussel Sprouts
why dave? because they dont abuse and objectify their workers? or because you dont like the coffee.. i actually do like the taste of starbucks coffee (odd) and i think they are very good to their employees. win/win. of course what they have morphed into is bigger than the issue at hand.
Here’s for you, *rob*:
For money you can have everything it is said. No, that is not true. You can buy food, but not appetite; medicine, but not health; soft beds, but not sleep; knowledge but not intelligence; glitter, but not comfort; fun, but not pleasure; acquaintances, but not friendship; servants, but not faithfulness; grey hair, but not honor; quiet days, but not peace. The shell of all things you can get for money. But not the kernel. That cannot be had for money. -Arne Garborg, writer (1851-1924)
“Team USA played great and the US winning 37 medals was an amazing achievement. So congrats to both countries, both of which had an outstanding Olympic showing.”
glad you liked VHH,
A close game yeterday, took me by surprise. The time between 3rd and OT must have been awful for luongo. 24 seconds…

Definitely, as rob calls it, “white people food.” 🙂

ha! that’s a great quote arkady.
sadly i am 110% certain that if i had money i would be amazingly the happiest person on the planet.
i know they say money can’t buy happiness, but how come 100 percent of the time i am happy when i have money and miserable when i dont?
*rob*
Arkady, *rob* and many others might be more cognizant of the “Money for nothing and chicks for free” quote by Dire Straits than those of Arne Garborg
rob, I just don’t like their coffee. It is a very good company.

Sooo diplomatic, Biffy! Nicely done! [clap clap clap!]
rob, I already commented in the “Foodies” thread. Please, knock yourself out. I suspect I’ll be in full agreement.
