For my last move, DH, I used Gentle Giant, which was formed by some Harvard students years ago. They’d been featured on some home renovation show on TLC or one of those channels. Surprisingly very reasonable and incredibly nice and professional. They’ve expanded into NYC, so I’ll probably use them again. Shlepper’s is another mover I’d never use again – similar experience as Moishe’s but without the shakedown at the end.
Cgar: – That’s the REASON why I always say NEVER move with Moishe’s!
CH: WOW! – sounds ideal – I think you are lucky though that you have friends down there as you got to expereince a real jamaica – I LOVE jerk chicken and shrimp AND rice and peas
did you have something called “Stew Peas”?
DH is right, movers are known to keep people’s stuff hostage and do all kinds of shady things.
They’ve been known to suddenly renegotiate their price before unloading the truck.
Dave, I don’t think Snappy even owns dresses. Cgar might steal her pink cotton jammies though.
Biffo, Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully it works out. I had to get a new fridge replaced too but it was my fault. I ordered the wrong kind and didn’t even realize it until I opened it and looked because I needed the left side opening fridge and got a right side opening one and the doors in this model do not swap so I had to get them to come back and get the old one and bring the new one. Was fairly painless and I think I had different delivery guys for the second delivery.
Biff, I’ve never had 5 at once. I did have three though. I have maintained my good reputation as a good client at Tawan Bar in bangkok. I more than paid for it after the mini bar bill!!!!!

Movers are notorious for pulling that shit, CGar.
I always use Oz Movers – they are expensive as hell but super professional.
