  1. Biff, NOOOOOO offense taken. I wouldn’t use Russians to move either. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I am not surprised at all that you would be asked for extra money. Those guys are usually scum. I had a terrible experience with a Russian/Polish contractor who did my bathroom as well and after a lot of fighting, I ended up kicking him out. There are more of those than not. Thank god I found a great Ukrainian contractor/handyman through a friend and recommended him on here a bunch of times.

  2. Minard, good question. I can’t do that all day from home, it gets too boring. What I’d like to do ideally is work for one of my contractors part time in either Philly, Bucks County or Provincetown.

Besides, once I retire, I’m focused on structuring all the capital for income and it’s pretty much there right now whether that was a conscious decision or not; i’ve bought a lot of high yielding consumer/drug/telecom stocks when the market was down.

I have no problem selling my Brooklyn place at a $100-200k loss but i think I’d really miss living up here in NYC. Anyway…maybe a year or two out and between now and then I’ll get some other bug up my ass reason not to. No homo.

  3. For all you loser homeowners working, I just got home and it’s NASTY. 2-3″ of pure slush, with snow now coming down. Get the shovels ready and watch your back, this shit is heavy.

  4. Hiya Noki! Thank you, It’s very nice to have been missed. : )

DEFINITELY will not miss the next gathering. When is the next gathering, btw?!

Ok, must now march bravely out into the weather…back later!

  5. Gem: Well, we are still ‘outsiders’, but we get to ‘peek behind the scenes’ a bit. And that is truly a great thing. We’re very lucky, my good friend here lived there for years, and she has introduced us to people there who we’ve kept in touch with over the years. Since we don’t do the “All inclusive” things, we get to see much more of real life there. We’ve also done a bunch of side trips, so we’ve seen a good amount of countryside.

I REALLY REALLY want to try to make the jerk chicken or shrimp here! If anyone has any good recipes, please lemme know! I didn’t have ‘stew peas’, not sure what that is? Bean soup? Do tell!
