  1. dave so you were married married!? what is the point of getting married if you have multiple boyfriends? i think this is why people think gay marriage is absurd. and yes i know heterosexual men cheat, but at least they keep it on the DL.

    *rob*

  2. Apologies for my absence of late.
The new office makes it difficult to come to the OT at work and Mrs Chicken and The Egg have been over for a couple of weeks so my evenings have been tied up as well.

Snappy, sorry to hear about your father and my thoughts are with you and the rest of your family.

  3. Noki -a New Orleans wedding sounds like a lot of fun – are you from there?

Jessi-ha! thanks! -we were both bad b/c we really just wanted to have a good time and dance with friends and family -I spent all this money and I will be damned if I had to go and chat with aunt so and so whom my mom made me invite that i haven’t seen in 20 years!

Benson it’s true, right? I notice it’s “gauche” to give cash in other states. I think it’s an immigrant/ethnic thing exclusive to NY! – All my friends when I think of it are all from immigrant stock(myself included) and you just give cash

you also give cash to folks at funerals which is weird, but is a nice gesture especially if the family really needs it

  4. jessi,

…oh, apparently, the real party started at the hotel lounge/bar afterwards from what we heard,
people running room to room, someone’s aunt passing out,
a few parties going on way too late in some guest rooms.
I don’t think it got out of hand though, like some weddings do.

    Arkady,
yes! there was glitter in the cannon as well.

    benson,
the wedding gift list is very important for future reference.lol.

  5. Slopey, you around? Forget to reply to you that every time I see a “No Dogs Allowed” listing, I visualize Snoopy and hear the song in my head. I’d sing it for you now, but you don’t want to hear me sing, trust me.

  6. As I noted on the thread at the time, my wedding reception was at the old Claridge Caterers, site of the over-the-top Venetian condo:

    http://bk.ly/In

It was a forner movie theater, converted into a catering hall. It was a huge, cavernous space. Lots of fun was had.

  7. for birthdays I give $1 for each year of age (starting when they prefer $ to things) -so getting more expensive as they get older. Birthday gifts stop at when finished college. Christmas they get $50 each. BarMitzvah’s were I $50 or $100(only 3 of them). Graduations from HS and college $50.
Definitely NYC area is much more lavish with the $$$ gifting then rest of world. Kinda gauche we always thought.
    (being the upstate native).

  8. But the place that made the cake WOULD NOT put two men on the top so the woman in charge of catering at the hotel got two separate cake tops and took them apart herself and put them together!!!!
