it’s hood culture in general. believe it or not there’s lots of hoodlum asians and whites as well.. and guess what? they all suck at school and fail at life.

We are zoned for Boy’s and Girl’s High School–no thank you.
awww we get it. your precious snowflake is too good for Boy’s and Girl’s High School. yet the neighbood’s housing stock suits you fine. i say that in the nicest way btw, not meaning to offend.

My daughter needs a school that will prepare her for college. Actually, a Chinese girl graduating from Boys and Girls High School will probably provide a much more interesting college application than a Chinese girl graduating from Brooklyn Tech. But imho it won’t prepare her well enough for the rigors of a good college. I’m hoping that Brooklyn Tech will do a better job.
I grew up in working class Hicksville, LI, and my college preparation was not nearly as good as those who went to selective high schools in the city and schools in better suburbs.
My daughter grew up in pre-gentrified Clinton Hill and I saw the education that some of her friends on the block were getting when they went around the corner to PS56. Alas, not much. I was certainly not the only parent who looked outside the zone for a school for my kid–there were plenty of striving black parents on the block who sent their kids elsewhere, and none of those kids is or was or will be at Boys and Girls.
Too bad we can’t open a bar on Governors Island. etson would come back from Canada for that.

Wow, DeLepp, that’s quite a generalization.
DeLepp;
Excellent summary of the situation!
