Ya know, you can’t have it both ways. Obama is supposed to cure the ills of the US and global economy in a year. He failed, and is now being blamed for that. A huge part of the American deficit is caused by waging 2 wars, and now we’re supposed to rush into a third, just to prove…..what?
We’re in Iraq for no good reason at all, just because another president had to prove that his balls were bigger and badder than his much more intelligent and world savvy father’s. The only thing we accomplished was to kill, maim, and mentally and physically disable thousands of American, Iraqi, and other soldiers and civilians, destabilize a government that had managed to keep a lid on sectarian violence for years, send an advanced country back into the stone age, spend bazillions of dollars in the process, and create the largest terrorist recruiting program the world has ever seen. Saddam Hussein was a horrible man, and he and his cronies were sadistic murderers. No one will mourn their passing. But it was not a just war. And making the supposition that Saddam and Iran would NOW be teaming up to destroy Israel is pure speculative fiction.
What is fact is that we cannot be dragged into another war. We should have nothing to prove. Not to Israel, which does a good job of defending itself, not to the world by proving how big our national cojones are, and certainly not to a bunch of right wing hawks who are awfully eager to throw other people’s young soldiers and family members, as well as our nation’s dwindling resources, into another endless war. Enough already.
