1.Had we NOT invaded Iraq, the Middle East would be more stable today. Bush Senior deliberately stopped short of taking out Hussein because he was advised that taking out Hussein would destabilize the region. And they were proven right.
2. We destroyed the global sympathy 9-11 created for us, and united people in disgust for terrorists. Had we not been so set on being bullies, we could have used that good will to build a strong, international coperative organization to fight terrorism much more effectivley than now. Instead, we created a huge wave of anger, distrust and hatred toward our country.
3. A lot more Iraqi civilians would be alive. The country would not be fending off suicide bombers nearly every day. They would still have a working infrastructure.
4. We might have already captured Bin Laden.
5. We would have much more worldwide credibility in our foreign policy.
6. Hussein- for all his bad qualities, was an effective counterpoint to Iran. (Another Bush Sr. policy advisement). He was secular- now Iraq may well be on its way to becoming another fundmentalist, Islamist country with an ingrained hatred of the West.
7. We would have a lot more money than we do now, because we wouldn’t have blown so much of it on Iraq.
8. There would be over 4000+ soldiers still alive, and tens of thousands of war-town men and women would still be living the lives they were supposed to.
Things to watch for to see if Obama is escalating the relationship (remember, every president since George H W Bush has mat him so this is still no biggee for China):
1. Escaltaed if he meets him on the Oval office. Map room is OK
2. Will there be a joint public appearance?
3. Will only his role as a spiritual leader be discussed as opposed to a political figure?
So true DeLepp. George Gobel, lol. Sadly, ya gotta be a certain “vintage” to remember him.
But what if your doc is into latex?
