  1. Pete, I think the ticketing issue is a tough one. if there are flagrant and persistent violators then they should be targetted and ticketted heavily.

But for soeone to get a ticket because there’s some paper in front of their house and they don’t get home until 7:00 to clean it up (after the low life scum that drop it there), then that’s a different issue.

This sort of ticketing doesn’t occur near me, luckily and all my neighbors keep my block clean and will pick up trash & shovel snow when others are unable to do so.

I live on an incredibly clean block by ANY standards.

  2. “it is clearly the role of the government to ensure that a structure is stable and doesn’t collapse onto the sidewalk. If it is unstable, it should be pulled down.”

But it’s become clearly obvious via the multiple engineers reports that it’s not posing a threat of immediate collapse.

Anyway, yesterday so many others stated the issues more eloquently than I ever can.

  3. yet for all of this complaining about not sweeping/litter…..
people yell and complain that city has nothing better to do when they get a ticket for it. I’ve read plenty of those complaints too on Brownstoner. City is ‘targeting’ me or my area…playing the whole victim role.

  4. Benson, I don’t want to get into a bruhaha with you. Especially since I have to step out and won’t be able to counter back.
But yesterday you made is seem that a property owner shouldn’t challenge a city organization (DOB). Isn’t it her “Property Right” to have a say in what happens to her home?

  5. However, it is clearly the role of the government to ensure that a structure is stable and doesn’t collapse onto the sidewalk. If it is unstable, it should be pulled down.

But when the DOB answers to no one and provides no transparency on a decision, the people need to step in and call for a halt to the process.
