  1. ET;

    Why? There’s no contradiction.

    “Property Rights” is strictly a legal construct. Unlike, say, my wallet, I can’t carry my property around in my pocket – it is not a personal possession.

    I believe that a property owner should have minimal restrictions. However, it is clearly the role of the government to ensure that a structure is stable and doesn’t collapse onto the sidewalk. If it is unstable, it should be pulled down.

    Saying I’m Mr. Property Rights doen’t make me an anarchist.

  2. Joe,
    30 mins each way would be 1 hour per day. If a five day work week, then its about 20 hours a month spent in excess commute. That makes it about 20 per hour of commute. You would have to do the math for your salary level/ net income to see if its an advantage to move further away.

  3. of course how the stock market performs is no measure of success of presidency —but would someone like to post a chart on the Bush presidency stock market returns vs. the 1st year of Obama’s?

  4. Joe;

    I was also thinking the same thing when I was looking at the row homes in Marine Park. I think the developers of Marine Park really optimized the balance between several issues: a) urban density; b) the reality of car ownership and c) maintaining a uniform streetscape.

    My thoughts also: why am I paying so much to live in an area where folks don’t bother to sweep in front of their home?
