MA likes fiscal conservatives to lead its state (like CA), which sometimes means Repub and sometimes means democrats. New England Republicans are different than mainstream RNC candidates. I can’t really explain Romney except for that he billed himself in a New England republican way, and when he tried to get all nutso on social policy that state legislature shot him down.

Don’t forget that Georgia took on a much younger lover in her final years in NM. I bet she was quite the looker even then. This of course was way before MILFs and GILFs, again ahead of her time.
