  1. Etson: solid advice
I am completely uninterested in my industry, so it would be a complete change…

    gemini10,

what fields are you interested in?

thanks CGar, not sure as yet. but I think so.
didn’t I hear you say you were buying a round
of vodka cranberries or something? 😉

  3. Oh G10, forgot to answer– husband, in 30s, going to school for career change. we’ve looked at entry level salary for new degree and it doesn’t look good. he could pick an area of the new field that builds on his experience to date, but he’s more intereste din other fields. i think he may not have a choice- we need his income, and we need it to go up.

  4. gem, not in my 30s yet but I have changed my careers and haven’t looked back ever since. If they lay my ass off this job, I am seriously think of changing careers and going back to school, otherwise I’ll need to move since my employer is the only one of its kind in the NYC area.

  5. “lesbiman, older women (and men) taking on younger lovers is nothing new. :)”
    Dave,
Correct, but I think she was unabashed about it. Also, I think that the history of taking on of younger lovers was probably much more of a patriarchal dominance thing compared to what she had done.

  6. Gem, I thought about it last year but ended up staying in a similar job.
From my thought process – make sure the new career is something you actually want to do & would be good at, rather than a ‘grass is greener’ thing. Also make sure to differentiate the opportunities in your industry as a whole from the specifics of your particular job at the time.
If you have done both of those & it still sounds better, you should probably go for it!
    Best of luck!!

  7. “Romney won in Massachusetts before voters knew (a) he tied his dog to the roof of the family station wagon for a cross country trip and (2) he liked to hunt varmints.
