Hard to find a stick rental, but I’m not 100% on that.
Maybe we’re talk at the next get-together. My kid has dropped out of my own stick lessons as she’s decided she might somehow shift into first at 90mph. She over-thinks everything like that.
You don’t need to rent a race car, most tracks have ‘track days’ of various kinds where you can drive your own street car with an instructor. They’re a great start. Also you can sign up for high-performance street driving lessons. They’re really cool, I did a 2 day class at Pocono and was so impressed I sent Mrs. D and da kid to the next one.
I won’t even hazard a guess as to how many Americans are proud of this country. I’m not sure I’d even trust a poll on that because, depending on how the question is presented to poll responders, the results could vary wildly.
Literal debate on the “proud” comment is absurd. It was a rhetorical flourish, and modified in one speach by “really.”
Does anyone honestly believe that there was never a single moment from the moment she turned 18 until the moment she said those words that she harbored any feelings of pride about the nation? Really? This is spin, disconnected entirely from reality. Very few on the republican side could have their every word held up to this kind of literal scrutiny without finding something that could be spun equally hard. Election’s over. Get off this one. There are real issues that matter, now. This just isn’t one of them.
Incidentally, very few of the things you cite that you are proud of, L, actually happened during the time period from 18 until she made the speech.
My favorite scene ever from Sweet Charity is The Rich Man’s Frug. I always wanted to be that girl with the long swinging pony tail. I got the pony tail but I’m no Fosse Dancer!
But, but, but!! That’s precisely why she said she was finally proud of her country!

Arkady,
she didn’t say those words when her husband was elected Illinois senator,
she said them when he was given the Democratic party nod.
2008.
He was elected senator in 2006.
LOL, Legion is doing a total smackdown against like 4 people. I kinda lurve it.

lol,
kens,
and I haven’t even had my afternoon coffee.
listen, I totally respect your position snappy and bxgrl and arkady, I got all kinds of things thrown at me by all types growing up hispanic with english as (technically) my second language.
again, what I am saying is that I am proud of this nation
and I feel most americans are as well.
I really don’t feel the majority of Americans are not proud of our nation. That’s Arkday’s original statement, that the President’s view were more in line with the majority, when I pointed out that he surrounded himself with individuals who weren’t particularly proud of this nation.
I’m now picturing Arkady doing the ‘frug’

That settles it…I’m gonna need to write to James Patterson and tell him he needs to check his car info when he writes a thriller!
How subtle could it have been if you two caught it? However I appreciate the appreciation. 🙂
