We’ve rented sticks in Europe, cause they’re considerably cheaper than automatics. And my partner had to do all the driving. We’ve had some very scary moments driving on mountains in Spain and France.
I don’t think my car can go above 90. It’s a 10 year old clunker. Plus, I want a small zippy little car that I can make sharp turns with. I want to know what it feels like to go over 200 mph!
Legion…I can take you point for point on that one…
1. Obama elected – yes, great! I personally love it. But let’s not make the mistake of assuming that his election somehow reversed what’s been going on here for far too long.
2. No castes or societal boundaries – I have to vehemently disagree on that one. We may not call ourselves Brahmins, Kshatriyas, etc., but we have it. We call it black, white, mexican, rich, poor, middle class, etc.
3. The Constitution has been used to deny rights almost as much as it has been used to reinforce rights.
4. The wars we get into to fight “tyranny” etc. is really about an ulterior motive. For example, the Middle East. Were it not for oil interest, we’d be saying fuck ’em.
5. I can’t follow my dream and be who I am without restriction. Again, race and also my being a lesbian. When I can marry and adopt without people kicking up a hiss, I’ll concede part of this point.
6. I’ll never fight you about “Jersey Shore”! 🙂

snappy,
fair enough,
my perspective comes from a somewhat cynical perspective on human history.
I always see it as this way;
when in mankind’s history, weren’t we killing each other, subjugating one another, exploiting one another and generally being nasty to each other for any given number of reasons.
I really see it as sort of a miracle that this experiment in democracy has been able to hold together this disparate and varied group of citizens under one nation.
Particularly in light of the 25 million exterminated in Stalinist Russia, the 20 million in Hitler’s Germany,
the 30 million in Maoist China, the million or so recently in Sudan, the list goes on and back to all our common ancestors.
My friend got the H2 when it first came out and I asked him how he likes it and his answer was “It’s not too bad but it basically accelerates like a school bus and stops like a train” he also said that “everytime he was on a highway and got the car over 80, it would shake so hard that he thought it would be the last drive of his life. The handling was horrible.
She’s not nearly as ungrateful as Sarah Palin who showed no real comprehension of her elected role nor her place in McCain’s campaign. But then again, Michelle has an IQ with 3 digits and can put together a comprehensible sentence.Without seeing Russia from her window.
What astounds me about the Hummer is the low gas mileage. Ridiculous, especially considering the price of gas in the last couple of years.

Now I wanna Frug!

Legion – you neglected to reply to my reply – ahem!
Actually this is a much better copy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-63pyLPVjk&feature=related
It’s from the Spanish language version but once the music starts it doesn’t much matter.
The line Shirley McClain delivers is-
“Wow this place sure is crawling with celebrities. I’m the only person here I never heard of.”
Arkady, if you teach me the Frug, I’ll teach you the Tootsie Roll!
