  1. Legion,

I think I remember when that Hal Willner collection came out, but I haven’t gone back to check it out. I had a Hal Willner Monk collection once (NRBQ, Todd Rundgren, John Zorn blowing bubbles to Epistrophy, other bizarre takes on Monk if I remember). I haven’t heard it in a long time. I have been reading the new bio of Monk — very interesting.

Legion, we’d better get back to politics. No one else is going to make any sense of these comments.

  2. slopefarm,

true, Reagan went the other way. tax cuts, military build up and supply side.
Obama likes to compare himself to FDR, but FDR had the advantage time, these days time is limited by a rabid media
    and a fickle public.

    by the way,
did you check out that recommendation I posted
    last Friday? Amarcord- Nino Rota.

  3. The Big O was left w/ so many problems it’d be hard to turn anything around so early. I almost wanted a GOP win since difficulties seemed so insurmountable. I think O’s doing a great job & we’ll soon see the fruits of his long-range plans.

CH – It was a d-word problem that spread to jawbone & necessitated 2 5-day stays in hospital & long-term home care. Really awful. Just now getting to end of rehab – same d-word tomorrow – only one day under 365 days since it started – arghhh!

  4. warning: rant ahead!

Stores that blast the heat on days like this where it’s already like a warm spring day outside. it’s so unnecessary and creates and uncomfortable shopping experience. if youre going to blast the heat on warm days up to tropical levels at least have the deceny to have a coat check at the door (a FREE one, and no stupid attendant expecting a tip to put a coat on a hangar!) it makes me not want to do any holiday shopping so you wont be getting any of my hard earned cash until you turn the heat down!

    *rob*

  5. Too soon to say not much is going his way. His Afghanistan strategy hasn’t begun yet, we avoided economic free-fall when it sure looked like we were staring into the abyss when he took office, there are some positive signs on jobs and housing prices and we’re less than a year in. I’m not saying it’s all going to work, it’s just too soon to tell or even predict. For historical perspective from the other side, economy sure wasn’t cooperating with Reagan 11 months into his first term. Did not doom his presidency.

  6. Pathetic Loser Usual Suspect Asshat…but there’s a very special category for anyone who complains about the size of someone’s Viking range being too large of a carbon fooprint!!!!

  7. slopefarm,
I think you’re right, he’s putting alot on the line. He’s been angering his base with the necessary concessions to moderate democrats. He’s been solidifying opposition by governing from center left. Clinton tried this at first and ended up with a republican house and senate for the rest of his time in office.
Not much has gone his way lately, even the nobel prize seemed forced given his troop decision in afghanistan.
