  1. Ah, Legion, I hadn’t even got to the question of accountability when we cross-posted, I was still just trying to argue that poverty exists. Why would I be offended by that question? Of course I think there should be personal accountability, and that’s its not all a societal problem. I do also think that working toward eliminating poverty is a societal benefit, not just a benefit to the poor. Poverty gives rise to crime, degradation, etc.

  2. Is there any role for family or personal accountability in your assessment of individuals in your world view? …or is it all strictly a societal problem?

    Typical.

blowfish, at what point does an individual begin to take responsibility for his own situation and at what point is it not his responsibility???

  3. ****I meant, everyone ignore but Legion and ENY****

Legion, no one said that. We’re just saying there ARE people that live in horrible squalor, and there ARE people that do not live in squalor but still cannot afford necessities, and of those, *some* do not have a choice in that matter, and please don’t respond with Oprah.

  4. blowfish,

This is a simple question, and don’t take it the wrong way. It is not meant to offend but to better illuminate the differing perspectives from which we are viewing this problem:

Is there any role for family or personal accountability in your assessment of individuals in your world view? …or is it all strictly a societal problem?
