  1. – if someone offers you food and you dont debate if it’s your taste but simply glad to have something in the stomach

    – if someone offers you a job and you don’t debate if it’s your area of interest but simply glad to have a paying gig

    – if someone offers you a place to sleep in and you don’t debate if place is pre-war enough, hood is trendy enough,..

been there. done that. If you can say “NO THANK U” to all the above, you aint necessarily doing great but certainly daily life aint too bad

  2. OK, Kens, appreciate that. But, for whatever its worth, I do think that the opportunities provided for the middle class (and the middle class itself, for that matter) were only possible through collective action on the part of the nation’s (then) poor, not through the individual, and so, not every individual has the same opportunity to succeed.

  3. Going to walk the CDog. My boss just told me to clean up the draft at home and come in tomorrow, but only after I told her I’d worked until 3am this morning. I suspect she’s pissed at me for working at home, even though she works remotely on Fridays. Very passive-aggressive. Makes work lots of fun!

  5. I really don’t want or care to get into this poverty discussion (plus, I’ve skipped over a lot of the posts), but if you think that poverty in America doesn’t exist, than you haven’t been to Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana.
I’ve spend some time in these states (not just the touristy parts) and the level of poverty there is distressing. People living without electricity and running water.
