  1. We as Americans …..

I dunno who you’re talking about. I am an immigrant and like everything commie style! :o).

  2. And in response to Benson’s challenge to come up with superior techniques or products myself, I’m pretty sure I could. If any of you rich people out there want to fund a business, I have lots of great ideas.

  3. snappy- I happen to love both old and new and I daresay most people here do also. And usually when we’re discussing the relative merits of a place, its about that specific place, and not a blanket condemnation of people. It’s a blog- its all about opinions and I disagree that people here do any blanket sh*tting on anyone else. The one person who actually does- benson- is the one you’re defending. Remember how he treated THL or MM? How about BRG on the Bay Ridge church thread or the graffiti thread? Or any number of times when he has bitched, dissed and moaned about liberals, dems and Obama.

  4. Moderate-ism needed.

When did a rant get considered a treatise? If we are all going to be held to peer-review levels of analysis in each of our posts, then heaven help us. The whole value of a good rant is to reanimate things we see every day with a new perspective. As someone who consistently sees both sides of every debate on here, I value benson highly, as much as everyone else.

Good writing (and blogging)is typing out things we think inside our heads but never really consciously formed.

  5. OKies peeps, I am off to enjoy the weather while it lasts. play nice and have a good weekend everyone! I’ll probably be pathetic and login later on anyways.

  6. I don’t think it’s about funds or taste, I think it’s about the fact that people are starting to realize that embracing our (rather short) history as a country is important and there has been a renaissance in this country of finding ways to better connect with that history.

This blog is a perfect example of such a renaissance.

There is more to these houses than just molding and parquet floors. We as Americans have the same problem with not respecting older people like we should or like they do in other societies (Europe, Asia, etc). I think it’s good that more and more people in this country are starting to respect where we came from, those who came before us and allow those people and things (yes, that includes old homes) to help move us forward in a more sustainable and peaceful way.

  7. I think the bottom line on this comes down to the fact that everyone has varying tastes and preferences in terms of housing and it’s just about a need for respect for other’s taste and preferences. I think in one form or another and at one time or another, we are all guilty of failing to give said respect.
