  1. 11217, it’s not about what the people on this blog would have preferred in terms of the before and after on that Waverly house. It’s about begrudging and down right shitting on someone for having different tastes. Clearly, if the prior owner had wanted to do what the new owners did and if s/he had the funds to do so, it would have been done. Either funds or taste, or a combination of both, resulted in the building looking the way it did. Just because a bunch of folks with internet access and a screenname on a blog don’t like it doesn’t mean f*ck-all. Why do we as a board have to constantly shit on other people’s taste instead of just saying “I prefer xyz”?

  2. Hey Kens,

I’m definitely going to try to make this one if I can. Love the Bell House. I’m leaving the next morning for a business trip, but I want to try to make it.

Clearly if that’s the only response you could formulate.

  5. benson’s rant is not about how other people live in dignity,or content, its about his own paranoia and envy. Calling people who applaud a beautiful house restoration artistically or intellectually bankrupt- and on a blog that began with Jon’s love of old houses- has nothing to do with his supposedly expansive perspective. He has always complained about the restoration or preservation of old houses or buildings.

And what? You think no one else has traveled the country or the world? Anyone who has read b’stoner knows that most of us have traveled, and all over the world. Some of us even come from small towns or the Midwest. Benson has nothing on the rest of us.

People love brownstones with a passion and although we do rag on what we consider bade taste, it is hardly the snarkfest benson makes it out to be. If he hates it so much here he should just stop reading- maybe his blood pressure will go down. Really, snappy- I’m surprised at you.
