  1. Legion, I will take the blame for the Yanks dropping game one. I tend to be a bad luck charm for baseball so I don’t watch the games. Like a fool, I turned on the game in the 3rd and 5 minutes later the Phils hit that home run. I promise not to turn on the games anymore! HGTV it is 🙂

  2. “I conveniently left them out, CGar for fear of being accused of taking advantage of the plight of the downtrodden yet still young and hot looking class of people”

    RAOTFLMMFAO, Dave! Yeah, I have one or two stories like that myself!

  3. slopefarm,
    these types of movements always start off with the best of intentions then devolve into a bloody mess.
    look at the french revolution, it was all; down with the rich, chop off their heads and let’s all party. Robespierre “the incorruptable” and Danton and all those high ideals.
    then the “great terror”.
    and finally Napoleon to clean it all up as Emperor.
    nice.

  4. CMU, glad my line made it onto a list of yours. BTW, you remain on my top spot of “holier than thou” and “do as I say else you’re completely wrong” lists. some have tried but none will be able to unseat you

    I conveniently left them out, CGar for fear of being accused of taking advantage of the plight of the downtrodden yet still young and hot looking class of people.

    And I’ve got a pretty good story to tell about a guy who was hustling for many years and finally landed a nice job. Yes, it’s a union job but I do not begrudge or belittle him for that. If he goes on strike for 12 weeks vacation, all bets are off. Besides, he’s a Yankees fan.

  6. Slopefarm;

    When folks are talking about mandating that a person buy health insurance,or face a penalty, we are indeed losing more of our freedoms. Just curious as to what will happen if folks don’t choose to buy health insurance and don’t pay the penalty. Will they be hauled off to jail for these acts? Call it what you will, but I call it oppression.

  7. blowfish, my point is there’s merit in both sides of the argument but too little to no accountability for self not putting forth best effort that one knows they’re capable of. beside that MIT example, I have many personal experiences where I got beat out for something by others who tried harder. My point is putting forth best effort allows you to consider not assigning any blame to self for not getting something. but not putting forth best effort puts into squarely into the blame-pool. There are people, organizations, gov, etc that can help or block you from something but the one thing you have most control of is your own effort.
