I’ll say again, if any of you like audiobooks, Librivox.org has free classics for download. You don’t even need an ipod…you can play them on your computer (I like to listen to books while I clean the house…just plug the computer into the home theater system to use those speakers instead of the puny computer ones) By the by, does anyone here not have an ipod but want one?
I hear you, Snappy. I would love a large library in my home, with wall to wall books, a large table with reading light, and some comfortable chairs, also with reading lights. Lots of woodwork, very clubby/Ivy League/Oxford looking. It would be my favorite room in the house.
I have tons of books stacked all over my place, and more in storage. Every once in a while I purge the paperbacks and give them away, but the bulk of my books aren’t going anywhere.
Arkady, they actually read it and this is my first one so I have nothing to cut and paste from. My yearly reviews are fine. This is some long term goal thing that comes around every 3-5 years and I’ve just passed my 3 year mark so I am getting one now.
im good with letting go of books… not other things, but books yeah.. i keep a few.. the one the things i really do like about park slope is that people love putting out their books for other people to take. i pretty much get ALL my books that way that i read. i have like 20-30 backlogged still. keep on putting out those books people!!
I love The Strand. Over the years I collected hardcovers of all the books of many of my favorite authors for $2 – $5 apiece, all mint condition, many first editions. It’s also great to buy a brand new “Reviewer’s Copy” of most any book for 50% off.

Kens – So lift from your yearly reviews, change the verbiage slightly & put somewhat unrealistically optimistic dates for the goals.

MM – Alibris also has really terrific deals on books – often under a dollar & not killingly high s/h costs.

– JB vs BJ – isnt one just the backward of the other?
I’m doing it right.
Love,
BJ
MM – No such thing as “too much”.
