Thank you MM, I can’t EVER seem to get the words out as wonderfully as you. We need more positive leaders with the energy to take pro-active steps towards getting people to think about ways to improve relations around the world. Whether or not he is successful in his efforts, the INTENTION and ACTION is inspiring to me.
Jessi, yes, I agree and meant to direct my last post to you, too.
“But nothing has happened for me to get up and applaud this as well-deserved. It’s way too soon. Here’s hoping he earns it after the fact.”
Slope, that’s all I’m saying. I agree with you, too. I applaud his efforts and, again, I hope he succeeds. I get the aspirational aspect of the award, but I would’ve preferred a “wait and see” approach. I hope giving Obama the Nobel isn’t like the “curse of the Oscar”.
Montrosse, well said.
I think the Nobel Committee, which has been accused of an anti-American bias in the past, is showing the world that it endorses American attempts at diplomacy and hopefully is strengthening Obama’s international creds. Its not every world leader that has a Nobel medal on his or her mantle.
Cobble, you know I love you. I am really half joking. My life in Russia wasn’t peachy and neither was it for my parents or grandparents and when I hear some of the things discussed here, it truly scares me to no end. I really really mean it from the bottom of my heart.
Benson, thanks. Hopefully will see you at one of the get togethers and we can discuss some more authentic Gravesend and Bensonhurst things. Funny enough I always thought of Avenue P and Kingshighway (up to McDonald Ave.) as Midwood but it really is technically Gravesend.
“Did you listen/read the statement as to why he was given the award? Someone has to be a leader and at least make the attempt to lead the world into better relations after so many years of ill will towards the US.”
Cobble, I read the statement. And I’m all in favor of mending diplomatic fences (I never liked Bush’s cowboy diplomacy) and working multilaterally with other nations, allies or not. My only point was that, after only 9 months in office, I think it’s premature to give the man a Nobel.

signed, Human being, over and out.
ENY,, it’s tied at 1-1, essentially as if the first two games never happened. Makes it tighter but no one is ahead.
Dugout heads never seem to be able to grasp that concept.
