  1. cobble I am with you but all of our thought process and reasoning is clouded by our personal experiences. That’s what makes us who we are, right?

I know we don’t vote communist and I know it’s not going to turn to traditional communism (like Russian or China) but the thought process is very similar. Government should regulate first this then that then another that and we will all have equal access to everything. Truth is, even in Russia it didn’t work and what ended up happening, few rich who controlled everything (even tough technically it was gov’t owned and regulated) and a lot of poor.

cobble, you know me. I don’t fight with anyone. I disagreed with Montrose and Biff but we kept it civil. Me and Benson agree on a lot but disagree on a lot too. We keep things VERY civil. I am not going to fight with anyone on the blog. MM said it right, we all have different opinions and that’s what makes us great. No need for animosity.

  2. Benson, no dis against the General, who is top notch, but why would a peace prize go to an active participant in a war? Kinda cancels out the “peace” part of the Peace Prize, doesn’t it?

Considering that during said war, thousands of civilians have been killed or maimed, and an entire country is in rubble, much of it still without basic necessities, giving him a peace prize is like giving a prize fighter a peace prize for being the last one standing.

Before you start in, I am in no way casting aspersions on General Petraeus in any way. I think he is a fine officer, and a great American, and did the best he could do, following orders for a war that should never have been fought where it was.

  3. “I for one am pleased to have a president that is engaging with the world rather than threatening it.”

Wasder, I agree with this sentiment, which is what I said above. I’m not sure who you’re referring to, but speaking for myself, I’m not holding anything against Obama and know all too well what he inherited. (Hell, I even got over the nasty primary battles between him and Hillary.) I will just say again, that in my opinion, awarding him the Nobel now is premature.

  4. Snappy, that ppty is asking for all cash deal too and the block doesn’t look as good as many of the nearby blocks. So on top of the massive renov in store, I say this is a bad deal. 100k would be a good deal – ie although the finished product is not that much diff than other comparables in mkt but owner would know exactly the quality of the renov put in behind the sheet rock and place is done to his/her taste.
