“they say kids who had pinworms as a kid wind up being pretty immune to almost everything as an adult”
My son would love that, if true.
Seriously, all that excessive cleaning, washing and hygiene must lead to too many allergies and low immunity. Coming from a more relaxed country, I’m always amazed at how much washing/cleaning up the average person does here (see any post on how many loads of laundry done per week if you have kids.) My laundry load shrank to a 1/4 after my split, and I do change my sheets on a normal frequency.
I’m not sure how my clothes get done. I only do my goodie holders myself. And socks. Everything else gets sent out in the pick up wash and dry service. Spending all day in the laundromat is akin to torture.
Legion- I LOVE that song! It’s on the Crooklyn soundtrack.
It’s better to use too little than too much detergent. use too much and it doesn’t rinse out so over time you’re building up more and more soap reside on the fibers of your clothing. The soap is sticky and it actually gathers dirt and stains.
Also, don’t use too much fabric softener on towels/dishrags. It also leaves a reside on the fibers that stop them from being as absorbent as they might be.
I also don’t wash any clothing in hot water. Sheets towels and knickers only. No one in my home works in construction or anything that requires the boiling water sterilization treatment.
I’m also old school, I like to line dry my clothes. Keeps them looking better longer. The dryer destroys clothes.
Bxgrl, I once bought this fabulous, yarnie/hippy sweater I found at a Euro-boutique called Smakk on the LES. Actually had to return the damn thing because when I got it home, the armpits stank to high heaven. I mean HIGH heaven.
I even tried to air it out first, because it was one of a kind. Nope. Back it went.
Brrrrrrrr…I shudder at the recall of that smell even now.
Movie version of the OT? I insist that Queen Latifah play Snappy 🙂 Dead on, no?

Wasder,
I wasn’t trying to insult you. Just thinking she already starred as Ms. Congeniality. I figured she owned the role.
Anyway, might I suggest today’s OT parlor game — casting the movie version of brownstoner?
And you wonder where the phrase “EUROTRASH” comes from!!!!!
From sex to stinky armpit odors. How I love the OT 🙂 Mornin’ Folks!
