  1. For all you “birthers” out there, there was a case of an Irish immigrant who was elected Governor of Nebraska. The former Governor challenged his citizenship, the militia was called out, and it went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of the immigrant Governor:

“The Supreme Court held: “That where no record of ntaturalization can be produced, evidence that a person having the requisite qualifications to become a citizen did in fact and for a long time vote and hold office and exercise rights belonging to citizens is sufficient to warrant a jury in inferring that he has been duly naturalized as a citizen.”

    Case closed – next!

  2. Herk, I have a (straight) friend who comes here often from Toronto and a (gay) friend of his took us to the Cubby Hole once. Ever since then, my straight friend loves going back. We also ended up doing karaoke at Lucky Cheng’s one time not too long ago. And no, neither one of us got curious after the huge punch bowls filled with booze.

  3. mmm Fiddlesticks was never packed the times I was there but then again I was never there really late… jump on the train and go to the Brooklyn Inn! Never was there a better place.

  4. Fiddlesticks looks PACKED in the pics I saw. I think I was there during March Madness and barely made it out alive.

    Corner Bistro might work.

I guess I can always revert to Meatpacking District and The Spice Market or Gansevoort Hotel…just been there so much it feels very tired.

  5. GW bars: there’s also fiddlesticks on Greenwich I believe. pretty decent irish place. I’m sure there are places around with more atmosphere, though they do a good job. the after work crowd there isn’t too icky.
