  1. Snappy, Slopey, I don’t show my family my brokerage statements let alone a complete stranger! It was totally intrusive, and made me feel like I was being looked at like a criminal when I have never even had so much as a parking ticket in my life. Credit check should be enough.

I ditched the two brokers that asked me for all that crap and went with an agent and management company which asked for the broker fee, regular checks for dep, first and last, and the credit checks. Which were all pretty reasonable, except the broker fee which feels slightly ‘shady’ to me when the broker works for the management company.

I could tell you broker stories that would make your head spin. BH and I were treated like crap over here, and if I didn’t have personal reasons for wanting to be here specifically, I would have left the area.

Oddly enough, I found the listing for our little “den of unmarried iniquity” [very funny DIBS] on Craigslist!

  2. I was always astonished at how many shoe stores could be concentrated on one block on W. 8th St. in Manhattan & survive for years. I don’t have a particular opinion about Starbucks – just don’t like their coffee & want to support local business. Same w/ B&N for books except I get gift certs for them.
