Most of these groups and songs from the 80s mean a lot to me because of who I was and who I was with at the time. Those years were very, very interesting times for gay men. I can remember the first people I knew who were sick and certainly the first ones to die from AIDS.
If I had moved to NYC instead of staying in Chicago when I got out of school in 1980 I would be dead now. Seriously.
Sorry to bring up such depressing thoughts. I don’t harp on them.
This one is for you DIBS : )

Me too Dave. I wouldn’t be caught dead showing a hip urban teen or twenty-something my itunes list. No. Way.
cobble…Only Cold Play can come close to the feelling you get listening to Never Tear Us Apart.
cobble…Our House, fantastic!!!! My ipod by far has more 80s tunes than anything. If some kid ever stole it they’d throw it away!!!!
Noki, yes, there was talk it was possibly auto-erotic asphyxiation and not suicide.
THL, Never Tear Us Apart is incredible as well. That would be a decent wedding song choice.

“Don’t Change” was my favorite. I used to cry listening to it. Ah the angst, the drama, the limerance…

INXS was brilliant. Michael was gorgeous and such a great frontman.
I loved that band to pieces, so many great hits. Never Tear Us Apart gives me chills.
