ODB Defaced in Bed Stuy

Bxgrl;
I think it says it all about him.
benson- interesting, no?
“better yet, when the next time some Retard post a nasty comment about Black people think about me, OK…”
PropJoe and Wine Lover are reviled and called out on this board for what they say, no-one needs your hypocritical help to do that.
“Less attention to the bling, the lifestyle and the perks, and more attention paid towards lasting rewards.”
With all due respect, MM, this could be applied to several members of our society, from rappers to ballplayers to lawyers to to MTV producers to top CEOs, hedge-fund managers (sorry Dave) and ponzi-scheme swindlers. It’s true some rappers fit the profile, but that’s not true for all, and they’re certainly not alone. In a perfect world, all public figures would be role models, but that’s just not reality. Our chief POSITIVE role models should be our parents and teachers, if we are lucky enough to have good ones. Meanwhile, I’d assert that people like OBD CAN be admired for their music while also being clearly identified as an example of the pitfalls of irresponsibility and excess (like say, Miles Davis). In that sense, ODB WAS a role model!
“If you look at the stats black men are most likely to be stopped, frisked, arrested and serve more time that their white counterparts”
Which is the “real” issue I mentioned in my 12.06 post. Your cluelessness about those you see as the enemy makes you think that this comment is a revelation to them.
You are angry at racism (lets ignore your own racism) but you can’t seem to distinguish what is racist and what is not racist, so you make out everything to be racist. When you are called on that you retreat to a position of “Oh so you think America isn’t racist – well it is because [insert the real evidence of racism here]”. That goal-post shifting might encourage you to think “he shoot and scores” but you’re not fooling anyone.
For his community work, his attempted kidnapping charge or his anti-semitism?
Scene: a press conference in 1991 after the Crown Heights Riot, during which Sonny Carson praises those who killed Yankel Rosenbaum. When asked if he is anti-semitic, Mr. Carson gave the following response:
“I’m anti-white – don’t limit my anti’s to one group of people.”
More deserving than Shirley Chilsolm……
Dear He shoot and scores-
Actually, you don’t. Like Downey, ODB made his choice. He doesn’t get a pass for doing drugs because he is Black. To assume that is an insult to your entire race. Downey did time and cleaned up his act. That’s why he is making the million dollar movie. ODB could have gotten help if he wanted it. But there was also this re ODB: In February 1998, Jones witnessed a car accident from the window of his Brooklyn recording studio. He and a friend ran to the accident scene and organized about a dozen onlookers who assisted in lifting the 1996 Ford Mustang—rescuing a 4-year-old girl from the wreckage. She was taken to a hospital with second and third degree burns. Using a false name, Jones visited the girl in the hospital frequently until he was spotted by members of the media
He was talented and good-hearted and f**ked up. It was a waste of a charismatic life.
I will absolutely agree with you that “black men are most likely to be stopped, frisked, arrested and serve more time that their white counterparts”. There’s no arguing with the facts. And no arguing with what I know from personal experience.
So who do you think is “more deserving”, What?
Mr. Sonny Carson…
