Maternity and Baby Stores for Park Slope

now there is a surprising headline…
“We should be supporting someone who looks like us”
Lulu’s Toys and Cuts has been open since 2001, so clearly Brigitte Prat (the woman who opened the store) is doing something right to be successful enough to last almost a decade and even open up another shop just for babies.
This is really a cut above some of those other places. No pun intended.

actually there are way more of us singles and childless people in the neighborhood. these shops pop up a lot because they are the pet vanity projects of wives of the rich men who live in the area. they need something to do all day before they start squeezing out the chirruns right? one can only sit so long in a coffee shop staring blindely at their macbook before probably going crazy. and these stores almost always seem totally empty. there’s a dirty little secret going around in park slope that most of the new mommies actually shop at target lol
*rob*
this about a year after the opening of Toys in Babeland. Coincidence?
And by a year, I mean nine months. Or less.
Lulu’s is a great store. The best of the lot in the neighborhood for this kind of thing. Bought many presents there.
As for Madison Rose, I have a pregnant friend who raves about the one in Carroll Gardens. It’s designer re-sale. With something like maternity clothing, where you only use it for a year, it’s a nice thing to have a re-sale boutique and then pass it along to the next. Smart idea. Should have the same thing for baby and childrens clothing…
Lulu’s for Baby opened months ago and has received rave reviews on PSP. The owner definitely has her finger on the pulse of that neighborhood.
Will they have “elimination communication” classes????
