Whole Foods has set an official opening date for its Gowanus store: December 17, Gothamist reported. The grocery on 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue will have a rooftop garden, a pub, and a plaza overlooking the canal, as we’ve already mentioned. Are you looking forward to the opening?

  1. We had one last year. Bought (didn’t feel like cooking) at Whole Foods. Too expensive and food was blah.
This year I’m cooking MY traditional thanksgiving meal and it ain’t no american turkey crap!

  2. Hey now, my specific neighborhood is completely absent of any parking lots. 🙂 I like that Gowanus is industrial and Film Biz’s smallish parking lot is OK. All I’m saying out of all of this ridiculous debate, lol, is that this parking lot is massive and there are better uses of space – like building more dense retail. This is NYC, after all!

  3. OK let’s try this angle: You knowingly and willingly moved near a long-established industrial zone and are now complaining about said zoning rules…
Lastly, Film Biz does provide some parking. So I guess you can no longer shop there.

  4. “I often walk to the Met Food on Henry street near me, but it is still an 6 block walk, and if I have more than two bags its a struggle”

You need a 4 wheel folding Shopping Cart, a staple in every NYC household.

  5. I’m not anti parking lots in Brooklyn, but I can see your point whe(x8). A solution would be to have ground floor parking and the retail above, accessed via stairs, escalators, elevators.
