It’s been in the making for nearly two years, but at long last Lucali spin-off Giuseppina’s has opened in Greenwood Heights. Park Slope Patch delivers an early report and says the pizza “was everything the perfect pie should be.” Like Lucali, the menu is limited to pizza and calzones, but unlike its predecessor, Giuseppina’s serves wine and beer. Has anyone been? How does it compare to the Henry Street original?

  1. Franny’s is terrific.
Campo di Fiori is really good if you like Roman style pizza.
Motorino is quite good if a bit overrated.
    Lucali is amazing.
    Paulie Gee’s is outstanding.

Guiseppina’s I like more than any of the above.

p.s. Amorina is good too. Not bad at all, in my opinion.

  2. Tried it. Just like Lucali, except honestly I thought it was a bit better and seven slightly more refined. Obviously the lack of an hour wait made the whole experience more pleasant as well.

Definitely the best pizza I’ve had this year. And the beer and liquor thing is awesome.

  3. I was there Friday night w/ 5 friends. Pizza was excellent. Now I’ve never been to Lucali—I’ve gone 3x and they were closed for various reasons—but the one friend I was with said the pie is exactly like Lucali. Great addition to the nabe… different than Toby’s superlative pies but equally tasty.
