  1. Barry Goldwater was born in Indian Territory later to be known as Arizona. I was reading somewhere that it was an issue when he ran for president back in the 60’s because of the native-born rule.
When the Mormons first settled in Utah, it was part of Mexico.
Sorry, I am a history buff.

  2. So typical.

My in-laws says her mother family made them. They started back from when there wasn’t refrigeration and the scraps and trimmings had to be used before they spoiled. They threw nothing away not even the littlest tidbits of meat.

But since Benson says not so I’m going to have to tell her that her mother made it all up.

  3. People interested in a non-moral take on why what happened happened when Europeans “found” the Americas (or anywhere else for that matter) should check out Guns, Germs, and Steel (Amazon.com link: http://bk.ly/Ms).

The prose isn’t the best, and the author does beat the idea to death (in my opinion), but the ideas are interesting. Well worth a read.

  4. “born in Yugoslavia, which was Italy a few days before”

My grandmother always said she was born in Poland, only it turns out that Poland didn’t exist that year, and she was actually born a subject of the Hapsburgs in Austria-Hungary
