Bees to honey! Or McNuggets. Or…anyhow, when we read the Brooklynian headline “Hideous New Eyesore on 9th Street,” we were so there. Turns out the eyesore in question is a big yellow awning for the recently renovated McDonald’s between 4th and 5th avenues, and Brooklynian folks are calling it “mindblowingly ugly” and “g-d awful.” (Sure is!) The larger question, however, surfaces toward the end of the thread: Is McD’s better or worse for the neighborhood than the porn theater it replaced? Jury’s out.

  1. So it’s been there almost 30 years?
And they recently updated the facade?

It seems they have a successful business there in Park Slope. It would be interesting to know what percent of their clientele live in the area.

  2. true dat.

i was over on smith last weekend and noticed way too many closed up storefronts.

has anyone else noticed that 5th ave has gotten so much better while smith kinda sucks?

    love court street, though.

  3. I was in that McDonald’s just this morning (SUCK MY DICK, HATERS) and picked up an egg mcmuffin after shoveling snow. The kid at the cash register was the single friendliest food service person I’ve EVER encountered, ANYWHERE. Not sure how that happened. The woman who was working with him was very friendly, too.

  4. As someone already said, this McD’s has been there FOREVER. Freaking 20-something whiners on Brooklynian should STFU. That is the most annoying message board ever. It’s an embarrassment to Brooklyn.
