Smashbuger, a chain based in Denver, is moving into the ground-floor retail space at 80 Dekalb. It should open in mid-April, the first of three locations to hit the borough. The burgers are smashed, seasoned, and seared on the griddle…who’s had one? Smashburger is also concocting a “Brooklynburger,” although its ingredients haven’t been revealed yet.

Brooklyn Burger:
Old school – a beef hamburger with american cheese if you ask for it. Onions on the side. Dill pickle. Coke.
New school – Hickory grilled tempeh patty with celeriac blood orange slaw over charred focacia and artisinal goat brie, served on platters custom fabricated from recycled bike parts made in Newburgh N.Y. Pomegranate Kambucha.
I think Randi just paraphrased Nietzsche.

jersey city excludes you from being a moonface? you are still a white person who has settled in a gentrified neighborhood of Brooklyn, are you not? i mean how far away does a true moonface have to come from? would Baltimore be OK? what about chicago?
hating everything and being snarky does not exclude you from what you detest. it just makes you more transparent.

I bet this does well here. I always figured, with the university across the street, that the retail tenants in this space would be college kid-friendly. And here you have it: burgers and beer. I wonder if they do any breakfast items, since a lot of folks pass this place on the way to the train.
“i don’t get how rob isn’t a moonface? is he from brooklyn originally and not white?”
Good question.
