Late last week Beast, the bar/restaurant mainstay on Vanderbilt Avenue, was shuttered by the DOH. The DOH website isn’t illuminating the reasons behind the closure, since it looks like the restaurant only racked up 15 points during a December 1st inspection. As of this morning, the DOH signs still graced the front door, although a commenter ate there just yesterday. Anybody know what’s up there? UPDATE: A commenter notes that a sign in the window says it was closed for operating without a permit, not because of unsanitary conditions. GMAP

Hard to believe such an attractive, well-kept exterior would be closed down by the Board of Health (not).
i’d fail them just by the way it looks from the outside.
