There was some talk of this Park Slope rental on Thursday’s Rental of the Day, and we think this “Gilded Age mansion” mostly speaks for itself. Intricate, dark wood details throughout, a pretty incredible looking (six-foot wide!) stairway, even stained glass in the kitchen and bathroom windows. Most apartments don’t come like this one. This 7,000-square-foot four bedroom at 108 8th Avenue is going for $18,000 a month.

  1. “id feel like a termite if i lived there.” LOL! Rob.

“I bet all the really well-to-do termites live in houses with wood wainscotting floor to ceiling.” Mopar, there is a proverb someplace that says frogs and bugs can live in king’s palaces. Wow! What a place!

  2. babs, you are completely wrong. I know the owner. The owners are not PC and CB. You got the wrong listing.

Noki, kitchen is on the parlour level. there is a basement but the first pics are street level, where you enter.

  3. Holey Moley, that’s gorgeous!!! I have to agree though, it is so over the top it seems more like a movie set, than a home – not so comfy, cozy at all. Or if you got too close to the woodwork, an alarm would go off and a uniformed museum employee would pop out of nowhere and ask you not to touch anything! Also don’t see anyone paying that kind of cash for Park Slope… as beautiful as both the house and the neighborhood is.

  4. Way over the top for my humble taste! Still, I’ve always fantasized about having a rear extension that one could build a screen porch on top of. This house has a 5th floor terrace that would perfect.

  5. Agree with d_h. It’s lovely, but reminds me of all the times I’ve accidentally wandered into the period rooms section in the Met.
